Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship
APTCC 2020 Update
After carefully consulting with data from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the coronavirus (COVID-19) and key stakeholders in the event, we have decided to cancel the 2020 ISA Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship in Singapore originally scheduled for 1-3 May. The decision comes with thoughtful discussions on evolving developments, continuing uncertainty globally, recommendations from international governments, and the nature of how the virus spreads.
While we are incredibly disappointed to have to cancel this event, the health and safety of our climbers, attending public and everyone working the event are always our highest priority. We do plan on hosting this event in Singapore at a future date and will be sure to share those details once confirmed.
We will review how this affects participation in other climbing competitions this year including the 2020 International Tree Climbing Championship in August. Once we can confirm those details, we will share them with all relevant parties. We appreciate the value our climbers, participating chapters and organizations, sponsors and other stakeholders place on this event and their patience and understanding in this challenging decision.
The Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship (APTCC) provides a competitive but educational opportunity for working arborists in the Asia Pacific region to demonstrate and exchange new climbing techniques and equipment, as well as, safe work practices. The APTCC also increases the interaction between various firms, ISA chapters, Associate Organizations, and members, and provides positive public exposure for the profession in that region of the world. The event is managed by the Asia Pacific Tree Climbing Championship Operations Committee.
The winners of this event represent the Asia-Pacific region at the annual International Tree Climbing Championship.
