2020 International Tree Climbing Championship - World Championship
ITCC 2021 Qualification
With the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 ISA International Tree Climbing Championship originally scheduled for August in Albuquerque, New Mexico, ISA is looking ahead to 2021 and shifting our focus to next year’s ITCC in Copenhagen. We have been receiving questions of who will be qualified to send to ITCC next year and we want to make sure that we provide clear and direct information on who will be eligible to compete next year.
As in past ITCCs each ISA chapter or associate organization will be able to send one male and one female competitor to represent the organization in the 2021 international event as stated in the International Tree Climbing Championship Rule Book.
For the Regional Tree Climbing Championships in 2021, the APTCC, ETCC, and NATCC, chapters, and associate organizations may include any ITCC 2020 qualifiers into their teams of eight (APTCC), five (ETCC), or three (NATCC) respectively to compete in those events.
One suggestion from the ISA Rules Committee is to allow an automatic bid in your component 2021 Masters’ Challenge for any ITCC 2020 qualifying competitor. This offers that climber the opportunity to contend for another opportunity to compete in the ITCC 2021. Ultimately, however, these decisions are up to the individual organizations.
We hope that this helps guide your decisions and discussions on future events. The impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak are being felt by all of our organizations and as we continue to work through the changes that need to be made your support is critical. Thank you for that and your continued enthusiasm for ISA and the International Tree Climbing Championships.
