European Tree Climbing Championship
2020 ETCC Update
After carefully consulting with data from the World Health Organization (WHO), other notable health organizations on the coronavirus (COVID-19) and key stakeholders in the event, ISA has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 ISA European Tree Climbing Championship in Slovakia scheduled for 10-12 July 2020. The decision comes with thoughtful discussions on evolving developments, continuing uncertainty globally, travel restrictions, recommendations from international governments, and the nature of what we know about the virus and how it spreads.
While we are incredibly disappointed to have to cancel this event, the health and safety of our climbers, attending public and everyone working the event are always our highest priority. We do plan on hosting this event in a future year in Slovakia and will be sure to share those details once confirmed.
We will review how this affects participation in other climbing competitions this year including the International Tree Climbing Championship. Once we can confirm those details, we will share them with all relevant parties. We appreciate the value our climbers, participating chapters and organizations, sponsors and other stakeholders place on this event and their patience and understanding in this challenging decision.

About ETCC
The European Tree Climbing Championship (ETCC) provides a competitive but educational opportunity for working arborists in Europe to demonstrate and exchange new climbing techniques and equipment, as well as safe work practices. The ETCC also increases the interaction between various firms, ISA European chapters and Associate Organizations and members, and provides positive public exposure for the profession in that region of the world.
The winners of this event represent Europe at the annual International Tree Climbing Championship.
