The Iowa Arborist Association (IAA) with the help of The City of Davenport Forestry Department and Advantage Tree Service is holding its annual Tree Climbing Competition (TCC) in Davenport at Vander Veer Park, 215 W Central Park Ave on Saturday September 25th.
As an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) chapter, IAA is required to comply with all ISA International Tree Climbing Championship (ISA ITCC) rules and pay for our male and female champion to advance to the ITCC. We will, of course, be complying with all ISA TCC rules, however, due to COVID, the ISA is not holding an ITCC this year. Our champions will still be receiving great prizes including the ArborMaster packet and will be invited back to next year’s IAA TCC, but will not be advancing to any other competitions.
Since the pressure to advance is off, IAA is taking this opportunity to focus on four things:
1. safety, as always.
2. encouraging new climbers to come and learn and rub elbows with the Midwest’s best in a friendly atmosphere.
3. encouraging competitors (and volunteers) from other ISA chapters who are not holding TCC’s this year to come and enjoy ours.
4. FUN!
